It all began when the team were invited to do drumming workshops at corporate events, often with two hundred or more participants but then having to resort to waste paper bins and pizza boxes to provide enough percussion items. Instead of raising fund to buy commercial drums that never seemed to be exactly what we wanted, we decided to explore making the drums ourselves.

Welcome to Dragon Drums

An early success was a request from Dame Everlyn Glennie, the internationally renowned percussionist who lead the drumming at the London Olympics 2012 to make some drums for her own corporate events.

Following on, in discussions with Cormac Byrne the drummer with the Seth Lakeman Band we began to develop what became known as the Bodhranosaurus Rex, a massive multi-functional kit for the bands stage performance. We also made a new beater to his design, ‘The PhatBoySlim’ Fat handle, slim tip made from Greenheart.

From our studio in Llandudno in North Wales, we manufacture a wide range of bodhrans, frame drums, cajons, tank drums and lots of other percussion items. To see what we’re working on at the moment, why not check out our Facebook page.
